Perched atop his rhythmic throne, Ajit doesn't just play the drums; he pilots the high-octane mothership known as Uncle Funk! From the commander's seat, he is the heartbeat and the mastermind, masterfully conducting a symphony of groove while ensuring every member of the collective fires on all cylinders to deliver a transcendental, powerhouse performance.
Ajit is a First Class Honours graduate in Music Performance (Drums) from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, London, and the driving force behind Nu-Jazz project Vertaal, who have made a major impact on the UK jazz scene with sold-out shows at Ronnie Scott's and The Jazz Café. Alongside his artist career, Ajit is an in-demand musical director for touring productions including Uncle Funk's Disco Inferno and Decades of Dance, specialising in live show programming, while his work has received global radio support (BBC Radio, Jazz FM, Worldwide FM), media features including Channel 4 and Rolling Stone, and he continues to inspire over 50 students weekly through his highly regarded teaching practice.
His favourite part of the Uncle Funk show is watching the amazed looks on audience's faces from the best seat in the house.
