How Uncle Funk collects, uses and protects your personal information when you enquire about a booking.

This policy explains what personal information Uncle Funk's Disco Inferno collects, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We are the data controller for the information described here.

Information we collect

When you send us an enquiry, whether through the form on our contact page or by email, we collect the details you choose to give us. That normally includes your name, your email address, and where you provide them your telephone number, event type, venue or location, preferred date, the show you are interested in, and any further details you add.

Our enquiry form sends your details to this website. Your enquiry is stored in the website’s database and is also emailed to us. Alongside what you type, the form records the IP address you sent it from, your browser’s user agent, and the address of the page you sent it from; we keep those three only to identify and block automated spam.

If you visit our social media pages or follow a link from this site to another service, that service will collect information about you under its own policy.

How we use it

We use the information you give us to:

  • reply to your enquiry and discuss your event;
  • prepare quotations, availability checks and booking agreements;
  • plan and deliver a performance you have booked, including sharing technical requirements with the venue or your production team;
  • keep our own records of bookings and correspondence.

Our lawful basis is normally that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or to perform a contract once a booking is confirmed. Where we keep records for longer than the event itself, we do so on the basis of our legitimate interest in maintaining accurate business records and being able to answer questions about past engagements.

We do not use your details for marketing unless you have asked us to, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Who we share it with

We share information only where it is needed to deliver a booking or to run our business. That may include the venue or event organiser, our sound and lighting crew, our musicians, and our accountant. We also use ordinary business services such as email and file storage, whose providers process data on our behalf. We do not share your information with anyone else unless you ask us to, or unless we are required to by law.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept for up to two years, so that we can pick up a conversation if you come back to us. Records relating to a confirmed booking are kept for seven years after the event, which reflects the period we are required to retain financial records for tax purposes. After those periods we delete the information.

Where your information is held

Your information is held on systems within the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, or with providers who offer equivalent protection through approved safeguards.

Enquiries sent through the form on our contact page are stored in this website’s database, on servers run by our hosting provider, who hold that data on our instructions and only in order to host the site.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete information where we no longer need it;
  • ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it;
  • ask us to transfer it to another provider where that applies;
  • withdraw consent at any time where we relied on consent.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This site is aimed at people arranging events and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version on this page is the current one, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
